License Exam Information - NCSLA - North Carolina Surplus Lines Association

Any agent licensed by the NC Department of Insurance that procures any contract of insurance with any nonadmitted carrier must posess a current surplus lines insurance license issued by the commissioner. (58-21-65)

The statute applies to any individual and not per office. Every person working for an agency that procures any contract of insurance with an non-admitted carrier must hold a surplus lines license.

What to study

80% of the questions will come from the General Statute GS58-21, article 58

You must be a licensed NC P & L agent before you can take the Surplus Lines test.
